Altered Tag Box - Tutorial

Hello Everyone,
Shilpa here,

Confession-  I am a scrap stash hoarder. And it was piling up... I had to take action :)
I made bunch of Tags with bigger size papers and  which can be used for my future projects.
and there was empty Dove Soap box... which I wanted to upcycle!!

I removed box flaps.
On tissue paper, I stamped text using Rubber Dance Art defined stamp and black archival ink.
And adhered it to whole box using Mod Podge glue.

I decided to use acrylic paints and as a primer, I applied white gesso to the surface using sponge. It covered some part of surface and gave beautiful texture.

I chose blue and green acrylic paints. I applied them on the box using sponge again... I love that effect.

On another paper, I applied acrylic paint (DecoArt Razzle Berry), let it dry completely.
Onto that, I stamped these beautiful hearts using Rubber Dance I heart Art stamp set and black archival ink and cut them out.

I glued these lovely hearts on the front side of the box using foam adhesive...
and my box was ready!!

I kept the box on my table and tags in it! looks tidy :) .... no more scraps!!
Think about Recycling ... using any of your favourite Rubber Dance stamps!!

Challenge Reminder - Shadow Box

Hi there!

Susanne writing today and I want to send out a little reminder for our running Theme Challenge. It's really easy this month. We want you to show us stamped animals on your projects.

http://rubberdance.blogspot.de/2017/10/rubber-dance-october-theme-challenge.html

I used the Tim Holtz BigZ die from Sizzix for the tiny houses to create a shadow box:

My main images are from the Textured Spring stamp set. I combined them with the Tim Holtz Wildflowers, they are cut from left over papers. I used ColourCraft  Brushos to colour the background and WOW! Sparkles for some glamour!

I hope you like my project!
Join our October Theme challenge here and have a nice weekend!

xx Susanne.

Always Take The Scenic Route

Good morning and happy Friday. It's Sue here with a step by step project that really was a labour of love.

This is a wooden photo frame/box which is great to play with 'cos it's about 2 inches deep.

I started by giving it a coat of gesso, and then sponged on the greens (for grass) and blues (for sky) PaperArtsy Fresco paints with an old kitchen sponge. As you can tell I only got to primary level at colouring-in school.

For my box, I've only used one stamp set Whimsical Summer which the lovely Donna designed for Rubber Dance. Here I've stamped the tree and cloud stamps. I've built up the colours in the trees with a cotton wool bud. Sometimes you just have to splash out on the specialist equipment!

I love these happy clouds, had white Fresco paint sponged on them too, and then I've re-drawn in the lines with a blue pencil.

Ohh Summer, please come back! Now the frame's complete it's time to concentrate on the inside.

I painted a background and a sheet of mixed media card with Aqua Tints.

Then added a bit more sponging to give it some texture.

I die cut some clouds and made a plaster of Paris sun - who mentioned Tele Tubby land!

On my Aquatint background, I stamped the hill from Whimsical Summer and coloured them with Posca pens.

For my happy houses, I used a Gelli print background and lots of white pen. The trees have been die cut from some Christmas paper (it's only 65 days now) :-).

Honestly, this stamp plate has everything! I love these cars - the red one's mine. They're even quite simple to cut out.

I know what you're thinking - I must have spent years at art school, or at the very least the road planning department, but no! I know the white lines are a bit wonky but it's so you avoid the hedgehogs!

I gave the houses little tabs so I could stick them to the base of the frame.

Then added a Tim Holtz sticker to finish it all off.

I had such fun making this, which to me is what it's all about. So just go and stamp and have fun, but don't forget to show us what you've made.

Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks very much for looking x

Halloween in the Street - Greeting Card by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends!

Susanne here and I have to share another  Halloween related project. This time I made a greeting card with the Rubber Dance Textured Houses.

I used a gelli print as my night sky and added white splatters to create some stars. I combined some designer papers from DCWV. The houses are coloured with Distress Inks. I used the Tim Holtz word block die for the sentiment.

Thank you for stopping by today!
xx Susanne.

Flutterbies by butterflies

Hello Everyone Debs today here with a birthday card I made using the fabulous Butterfly Trio.

Using Vesafine I stamped the 3 butterflies and then sprinkled Embossing Glitter in 3colours and heat set it to bring out the sparkle.

You can just see it sparkle in the photo below

For the background I used my favourite medium of the moment, which is Sennelier Watercolours. I first spritzed the page with water and then loaded
my brush with colour. As I touched the page the colour exploded onto the paper whooshing around. I love how the colours run round the page chasing each other and blending together. Of course you need to be mindful of what colours you use, as mixing any combination of primary colours will make brown. Of course if that’s the colour you want, you can mix some beautiful shades of brown, but if browns aren’t what you want, don’t mix your primary colours of red, blue, and yellow.

I dried the page thoroughly and then added black around the edges which acts as a good contrast, and helps the butterflies pop from the page. Adding flowers in plain black added some balance, and for more interest I added black dots.

Above you can see where I added some shadows to the right of the butterflies.

I stuck the page onto a plain white card and now it’s ready to send.

The stamps I used are Butterfly Trio and the flowers are from Beautiful You.

Take care and I’ll see you soon.

Hugs Xxx
